In the morning, tour of Ostra and Ostra Vetere, medieval villages and winners of the “Orange Flag”.
These towns exude history and charm, and medieval and farming tradition. We will visit the historic
theatre in Ostra, the civic museum in Ostra Vetere, the perfectly preserved historic centres, and we will
enjoy refreshments whilst admiring the landscape of the velvet hills. Lunch: free time. In the afternoon,
guided tour of Senigallia, famous for its velvet beach. The town is also rich in history and curiosities.
Visiting its Rocca Roveresca, we will learn about the dukes of the Della Rovere family; the archaeological
digs will show us traces of the town’s ancient past; the stunning Church of the Cross and Mastai Museum
will tell us who Pope Pius IX really was. Dinner and overnight stay in a hotel.
After breakfast, tour of Arcevia, a village dating back to the early Middle Ages. The village is set amongst
the Apennines, and bears traces of the Della Robbia family and Luca Signorelli, masters of the Italian Renaissance. The tour continues amongst the neighbouring castles, small gems hidden in the Marche
nature. Lunch: free time. In the afternoon, tour of Corinaldo, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy
and hometown of Saint Maria Goretti. We will visit the important places in Maria Goretti’s life, as well as learn several amusing anecdotes that gave this Marche village the name of “paese dei matti” (town of madmen). In the afternoon, return to starting points.
